I just got back from the hospital again and things are looking up. Patients are only allowed visitors every two hours for 15 minutes, so that kind of sucks, even if it does make sense. Well, my grandpa is out of surgery and is back in his room in the SICU. According to the doctor that whole thing went well, but we haven't been able to see him yet. The doctor is very concerned about bleeding as well as about the possibility of a heart attack or stroke ( Read more... )

Made it to Iowa City and I didn't crash the car. Quite a feat on three hours of sleep, I must say, especially because I was trying extra hard to drive off the road during the last twenty minutes of my journey. Thank god I only had to get here instead of all the way to Anamosa ( Read more... )

My Grandpa fell and fractured his C6 vertebrae. He needs surgery in order to repair it. Thankfully, he wasn't paralyzed, but he is in a LOT of pain right now because they can't give him pain meds due to his blood pressure (???).

At any rate, I'm going to Iowa as soon as I can pack, call Kevin to see if he'll join me, and get gas.

Well, the summer is finally in its last few hours. Oddly enough I'm not terribly disappointed. School will give me something other than my self-doubt and self-pity to contend with.
